Family policies

What families ask us before a child starts.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after being well for a full day. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and ask you to come promptly. A teacher stays with the child until you arrive.

Drop-off and pickup

We release a child only to the adults on the pickup list you give us, and we ask for ID at the door until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.

Late pickup

Pickup is at 12:15 p.m. for mornings and 3:30 p.m. for school days. If you are running late, call or text the school so a teacher can stay with your child. We talk with families about repeated late pickups, and the enrollment agreement says what follows.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Families send lunch on school days and a water bottle every day. The school sets out a morning snack of fruit, vegetables and crackers. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.

What to wear and bring

Send clothes your child can manage and that can get wet or dirty, shoes that stay on for outdoor play, and a spare set of clothes in a labeled bag. Indoor shoes stay at school.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close for the usual holidays and a winter and spring break, and we share the year's closures at the start of the school year. If severe weather closes the school, we email and text families early in the morning.

Leaving the program

We ask for a month's notice before a child leaves. The enrollment agreement says how to give it and what happens to a month in progress.

Screens and phones

There are no screens in the rooms. We ask families to keep phones away at drop-off and pickup too, so the doorway stays calm for the children.

Questions about a policy?

Ask us on a tour, or write to us, and we will explain how it works in the room.
