A day at Ginkgo, from the door to pickup
The times are the same in every room; the games change with the age.
- 01English at the door
Step 1: Arrival
From 8:00 a.m. an adult greets each child at the door. Children hang a coat, wash their hands and choose a first activity.
- 02Mandarin
Step 2: Morning circle
A greeting, the weather, a song and the plan for the morning, all in Mandarin, with pictures and gestures.
- 03Mandarin
Step 3: Work time and snack
Children choose work at the shelves while a teacher talks through what they are doing. Snack is set out in the room.
- 04Mandarin
Step 4: Outdoors and a story
Outdoor play in the yard, then a picture book in Mandarin before children going home at noon are collected.

Step 5: Lunch and rest
On school days children eat the lunch they bring. The twos rest; the older children have quiet play.
- 06English
Step 6: The English afternoon
A story, outdoor time and a closing circle in English, then pickup at 3:30 p.m.
